I remember back in the day reading about some guy that was one of the first user's to sign up for AOL, or what ever, and was one of the first to start getting spam.
He at the time decided to write back to these guys, and tell them their writing sucked. If I remember correctly, I think he actually ended up working with them or something even more preposterous.
So, I tend to pay close attention to the spam I get, for no other reason than amusement. Every once in a while though, I get a banger. Not in terms of actually not knowing it's not spam, but in how well they have evolved.
This one comes from some email, starting off with "I'm just going to get straight to the point" Then the pitch. It was short, maybe a sentence, I already forgot it. Then their next sentences is letting you know they wont be checking the email you got the spam from and to contact them at another email.
Flawless spam.
