Domain Development

I like domains.  It's a thing I've enjoyed since I got into the internet game.  The thing is that domaining gets a bad rap.  But that's because most people who domain, don't develop them.

That's the thing I enjoy the most of the game.  Is getting an idea, and then finding the name that fits it perfectly.

There is so much to a website.  It can be as simple as microphonetest.com, which was a site I had just decided I needed to make one day.  So I searched for the perfect domain, and paid a premium for it.

A domain is only as much as it's worth.  Or better put, it's only worth as much as someone thinks they can make out of it.  Also vanity.  Vanity is probably a huge part of it too.  But market value probably has something to do with it.

The .com was the first.  Most recognized in the world.  It gives you more authority than some other extensions.  But what gives you the most authority is word of mouth.  Remember Vine? It was on a .co, not a .com.

How do you get word of mouth? Well, it generally starts with making a good product.  One you would use.  If you can't make it an experience you're not going to like, what makes you think someone else will?

Not saying all my sites are works of art, some are hideous in my mind.  But they are functional and that's what I needed when I made it.  So, if you wanted to make a car website, why would you be mad that someone registered cars.com and was holding on to it.  You could of registered cars.xyz and made it a big brand, tested it out, and then bought cars.com.  Because to you it might of been cheap, because you already know what your return is likely to be since you been working on cars.xyz.
